Tendinopathy refers to the breakdown of collagen in a tendon, often caused by overuse or sudden stress on a tendon. Also called “tendinosis”, tendinopathy causes burning pain in addition to reduced flexibility and range of motion. Aging and lack of muscle tone can also play a role in the development of tendinopathy, which can affect any tendon, though it is most common in the rotator cuff tendons, the patellar and hamstring tendons, and the Achilles tendon. As part of the treatment, it is recommended to take breaks during the day to rest, stretch, take supplements, apply localized ice packs or cold compresses, and schedule massages or Neuro-frequency Therapy (electromagnetic field therapy) to achieve an instant and long lasting sense of relief.
